Keep Washington Safe
Our communities suffer from crime and general lawlessness because of short-sighted policies supported by the majority party. Violent crime is up, property crime is up, drug death increases are leading the nation.

As a member of the Law and Justice Committee, Senator Wagoner had a front-row seat to some of the worst policy decisions imaginable over the past seven years. Keith has consistently stood with law enforcement and first responders to help them, help our communities. It was his honor to be selected as the 2020 Senator of the Year by the Fraternal Order of Police.

Senator Wagoner also was the prime sponsor of legislation that created a statewide “co-responder” curriculum to properly train and equip a new generation of public safety professionals. Co-responders work in tandem with traditional law enforcement to get people the help they need when their behavior causes an interaction with law enforcement.
Keep Washington Affordable
The cost of EVERYTHING is up, up, up. There are many contributing factors; Keith wants to focus on the ones we can control. The single most important step Olympia could take is to control fuel and energy costs. High energy costs drive the cost of everything else. Bought eggs lately?? Keith has seen them locally starting at $4.99 per dozen. Are egg farmers getting rich? Don’t think so. Again, foolish policies from the governor’s office supported by his party are the root cause. Washington’s gasoline and diesel prices are approximately fifty cents a gallon higher than they could be due to the “Cap and Tax” bill supported by the majority. Keith has opposed and will continue to oppose this and other unnecessary costs that always get passed on to the consumer.

Senator Wagoner led in the fight to defeat a proposed 300% increase in property taxing authority to local government. The bill was withdrawn due to his and other's work in Olympia but it will be back in future legislative sessions. Olympia overspends and underfunds local government. His bills SB5568 (Returns liquor revenue to local government) and SB5404 (Doubles cannabis revenue to local government) would eliminate any need for increasing your property taxes. But, the majority would-not-hear-it in committee.
Keep Parents
Informed and Engaged
It shouldn’t take an Initiative to the Legislature to affirm the natural right of parents to parent, but it did. This so-called “controversial” issue couldn’t be more obvious. Parents have every right to know what is happening in their children’s schools. That is why we elect school board members locally; so they are accountable to parents and their communities. What works for one community may not be appropriate for others. That is why Senator Wagoner opposes the legislature supplanting local decision making with state-wide educational mandates. We should instead be providing resources from which to choose. Keith supports education in every form: public schools, charter schools, private schools, and home-schools. Every student learns differently, we should respect and support that diversity, and respect and support parents.
